Growing up at grandma's house back in the 1920s gave young Donald the perfect background as an "outhouse" authority. Whenever I didn't want to be seen or heard from, that's where I'd be hiding, from all of humanity... in the outhouse.

Such close confinement left just enough room for a little kid's imagination to grow in later years to Texas-sized story-telling. Couple that with a fine arts degree from the U. of Illinois, and the way was paved for this senior citizen to write and illustrate a "Texas True" history of  few famous Texans and their "retreats."

All this after service in WW2, marriage to a fantastic woman, four great kids and a successful career in sales/business. Not able to accept retiring into retirement, I began my next career as a Texas humorist, author, poet, illustrator... book seller.

And a down-home, fun-loving all-hat-and-no-cattle-Texan: D.N. "Big Don" Page  >>>
